Immunization Coverage among Students in Toronto (EduVizzers)
Description
Visualizing immunization coverage and exemptions among students in Toronto-area schools
Summary
For the October 2022 EduVizzers challenge, you are asked to visualize the rates of immunization coverage for Toronto-area students. The province of Ontario's Immunization of School Pupils Act (ISPA) requires elementary and secondary students to be vaccinated or have a valid exemption. The Toronto Public Health staff work with schools located in the City of Toronto to assess student immunization records to ensure that all students are a) up-to-date with their required immunization and/or b) a valid exemption for philosophical or medical reasons is provided, in accordance with the ISPA.
This data set includes information on school-level immunization coverage rates and exemptions for students (7-17 year olds) in Toronto for the 2018/2019 school year.

Technical Notes: The data were extracted from Panorama ( the provincial information system used to track immunizations) on August 1, 2019 for Toronto students born between 2001 and 2011 by school, for the 2018/19 school year. Percentages for the schools may not add up to 100 as the difference represents individuals that are not complete for age with their immunizations or have a medical or administrative exemption. Only schools in the four publically funded boards are included in this report. In addition, adult learning centres and schools with total enrollment less than or equal to 10 are excluded from this report.
