2022/Week 16 - Build a Treemap

back2vizbasics·January 23, 2025

Description

For Week 16, we would like you to focus on building a Treemap.

Summary

The data week’s challenge is Star Trek episode by TV series data provided by our friends at #DataFamCon. DataFam Con is hosted by Nicole Klassen and Christina Gorga. It is a Data Viz Community Project celebrating everything pop culture!

The data set for this week is originally from https://memory-alpha.fandom.com/. The episodes were taken from their respective series’ pages. Here is a list of the data you will find:

  • Series: the Star Trek Series name
  • Episode Title
  • Episode: in season x episode number format
  • Original Airdate: when the show originally appeared on television

Be sure to submit your dashboards to both submission trackers!

For those newer to Tableau, try to consider using color effectively and purposefully in your chart. Play with formatting to see how it affects your chart. Make sure your chart has an appropriate description, title, or labels. Keep things simple and try not to over-complicate the chart. For those more experienced users, get creative. However, don't compromise quality if trying something new.

Take your time over the next week to create your chart. Share your visualization on Tableau Public, Twitter, and/or LinkedIn. Use the hashtag #B2VB and tag us (@ReadySetData and @ItsElisaDavis on Twitter). Finally, fill out the submission form on the Back 2 Viz Basic's website.

Good luck!
